[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Spinal injuries<\/strong><\/a> are very common health disorders, caused by accidents, overexertion, and poor posture.<\/p>\n

Low back pain<\/strong><\/a>, for example, is one of the most common ailments and although no one can ignore the limitations or impediments that it causes the patient to carry out their usual tasks, it often heals itself.<\/p>\n

In this case, it is enough to resort to anti-inflammatory drugs, heat applications and physical therapy practices, for a few days or a few weeks, to return to daily activity.<\/p>\n

But when conservative treatments don’t work, and pain irradiates down one arm or leg, or both, may be due to compression of nerves in the spine that warrants surgery.<\/p>\n

It could be from ruptures or herniated discs<\/strong><\/a> that press against a spinal nerve and affect its function or an excess of bone that affects and can reduce the space that the nerves need to exit through the spine.<\/p>\n

Among the various options available to us to intervene on the spine, we consider treatments such as transcutaneous stimulation, radiofrequency denervation or spinal neurostimulation.<\/p>\n

Technology also facilitates the use of minimally invasive surgery, which reduces the effects of conventional surgery and offers the patient the opportunity to recover with less pain, for a shorter period.<\/p>\n

Surgery is a procedure that neurosurgeons use to decompress, mobilize the elements and fix or replace the vertebral structures, in the most complex cases. There are basically four types of back surgery:[\/vc_column_text]\r\r

<\/i> <\/div>

Discectomy:<\/p><\/div>

It consists of the extraction of the herniated part of the disc and has the objective of alleviating irritation and inflammation of a nerve. Generally, it requires partial or total removal of the back of the vertebra to access the ruptured disc.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\r\r\r\r

<\/i> <\/div>

Laminectomy:<\/p><\/div>

This is done to remove the bone that covers the spinal canal, in order to enlarge it and relieve the pressure between the nerves caused by the narrowing (stenosis) of the spinal canal.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\r\r\r\r

Spinal fusion (spondylodesis or spondylosindesis):<\/p><\/div>

To join two or more vertebrae, to add stability when there is a fracture in the spine and relieve pain suffered by the patient<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\r\r\r\r

Artificial discs:<\/p><\/div>
