It is a berry-like malformation, filled with capillary blood vessels.<\/p>\n
Some of the symptoms associated with cavernomas are:<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text]\r\r\n
\n- Headaches, <\/strong>which can manifest as sudden onset, intense headache due to acute rupture and bleeding, or as a chronic constant headache.<\/li>\n
- Intracerebral bleeding<\/strong> tends to occur due to the anomalous vessel formation. Depending on the site of rupture consequences may be null or may cause severe impairment.<\/li>\n
- Epilepsy<\/strong> usually associated with lesions localized to the temporal or frontal lobe. When surgical removal of the cavernoma is done, there is a high possibility of achieving epilepsy control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\r\r[vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]Although CT scan may suggest the presence of this type of lesion, MRI is the image of choice. When treatment is needed surgery is the first line option.
